Gorgeous Art Deco Onyx offers and Marcasite Brooch Pendant on Silver 925 Setting - Elegant Period Design - 1920s 1930s

This art deco onyx (?) and marcasite brooch can also be worn as a pendant (it has the hardware for both). This piece has the center oval stone surrounded by a band of marcasite stones with what appear to be branches swirling around the center stone. We call them branches because, if you look closely, they are not smooth but appear to be branches from a tree. This piece has all the earmarks of an art deco piece in that it has remnants of gold plating, which has worn off. The hardware also appears to be of this period as it has an early C clasp. We cannot guarantee that the center stone is onyx, but it is a very black stone. Why set a lesser stone on sterling silver?

This piece is marked 925.

This piece is in good vintage condition, taking into consideration that the gold plating has worn off of the silver setting and there is one marcasite stone missing (see the third photo). The missing stone is on one of the surrounding branches, so it is not readily visible. Please examine the photos as they are a part of the description.

This piece measures approximately 1-3/4" by 1-7/8".
