Real human tooth is an adult molar and has been professionally cleaned and sanitized. The human tooth measures .5 inch and has good naturally darkened ridges. The brooch is 2.5 x 1 inch in the Spanish Damascene style. The original vintage brooch is circa 1968 and the contemporary human tooth has been added. The roll over safety clasp on back measures .75 inch.

Vintage Damascene jewelry was made between 1930 and 1970. It is still made today, but the contemporary craftsmanship is easily distinguished from the old pieces. Japanese Damascene was made by oxidizing metal, hence the black background, then adding gold or silver foil to the etched design. In Spanish Damascene, the metal has been textured and the black color is created by enamel being added.
This design is a typical one of Spanish Damascene with stylized flowers. This one is marked," SPAIN" on the back.
