Late 1800's Faux Burl Hinged Box with Hand Painted Lid offers

This charming little box is probably fashioned out of pine wood with decorative gesso relief. The box has a faux burl finish. The top of the lid features The Holy Family, hand painted probably using oil colors, within a slightly raised relief frame. The box measures approximately 3 1/4 inches wide by 2 inches deep and 1 1/2 tall with two curved wire hinges. I believe that this piece was made in Italy around 1880. Considering its age it is in great condition.
