These neon apatite rondelle bead earrings are the perfect cascade of bright blue! The jump rings holding these beads are soldered, NOT wire wrapped. This makes these earrings elegantly minimal, strong and unlikely to snag. I select gems that are that are well cut and able to withstand wear.
The faceted rondelle beads are flat round shapes. They have 4.5 mm soldered jump rings and are suspended from sterling silver or gold fill ear wires. The length of each apatite dangle is about 1 3/16" (30 mm) and the total length of of each earring with an ear wire is or with a lever back is 1 13/16" (46 mm).
These earrings are very light and comfortable to wear in either metal choice. Earrings are ready to ship in either metal choice. I make these in different gemstones so please check my other listings if you're looking for a specific color or birthstone.
Apatite is a phosphate mineral and occurs in yellows, greens, teals, blues, and occasionally violet. The name is from the greek "apatos" or "deceiver" as apatite is often visually mistaken for beryl, tourmaline and other gems. "Neon" apatite is distinguished from other varieties by the darker saturate blue color it shows as compared to regular blue-green apatite. Blue apatite is occasionally heated to improve color. "Neon" is a descriptor and does not connote any specific mineralogy traits. My apatite is natural, may be heated and is most likely from offers Madagascar.
I use 14/20 goldfill in my work. The ratio refers to the amount of 14kt gold (5% by weight) bonded to a base of brass to give the appearance of karat gold at a fraction of the price. My goldfill contains no nickel. Goldfill is significantly more durable than gold plate as it is much thicker.
