SUPERIOR PROTECTIVE SEALANT.
Our four coats of marine varnish far outlast other sealants, which need to be reapplied once or twice each year. Our quality ProManila rope is rot-resistant and lasts at least three times as long as natural Manila rope.

PERSONALIZED CUSTOM ENGRAVING
Laser engraving can be done on the top, bottom, or edge of the board. You will specify wording and placement in the personalization box above. You may also email a pdf image for engraving. Please see the list of fonts in the photos and choose one or more that you would like to see in a proof. Include these choices in the personalization box above, as well.

THE SWING
Each face is sanded smooth, with every edge rounded and hand-sanded.
The natural and charred finishes are sealed with four coats of outdoor sealant (satin marine varnish) for excellent protection from the elements. This sealant outlasts spar urethane or Thompson's water seal.
The colored finishes are hand-painted with Duramax exterior paint. A light distressing is given to bring out some of the beauty of the wood, and then three coats of outdoor sealant (satin marine varnish) are applied for added protection from the elements.

THE ROPE
ProManila is a synthetic polypropylene rope that is smooth to the touch, strong, and resistant to rot caused by moisture. I use a tan color proManila that has a natural look. It has a 465-pound safe work load.
Two 5/8” proManila ropes are eye-spliced to each side of the seat for maximum strength and security. When you choose the rope length in the drop-down box, this amount of rope is attached to each side.

Natural manila rope is available upon request. It has a 330-pound safe work load and usually needs to be replaced sooner than the proManila. If you prefer the natural manila, simply comment in the “note to seller”.

HANGING THE SWING
To find the correct length, measure the distance from tree limb to where the seat will hang and add the circumference of the limb. I will add 2' extra to give you plenty to work with for your knot. A commonly used knot for hanging swings is the running bowline knot. A link to instructions for this knot will be included with your swing. No hardware is needed to hang your swing. If you prefer hardware, you will need to purchase it yourself. The running bowline knot can be tied around a tree limb, around a beam, through an eye bolt, through a carabiner, etc.

RECOMMENDED MAINTENANCE
Maintenance, similar to that needed for other outdoor wood structures, will greatly extend the life of your swing. Reapplying new outdoor sealant when needed will go a long way in keeping the wood from weathering. While this exterior paint and marine varnish are expected to provide great protection for several years, they will not offer unlimited protection from the elements. If you see that the sealant is breaking down, you may give it a light sanding and add new varnish. Applying with a poly foam brush works great.
