Contour Farming 4”x4” framed mini quilt offers

This series is based on childhood memories of observing the world through a car window. Hitting emotionally somewhere between a sad song and a happy childhood memory, these small quilted pieces explore constructs of consumption on the landscape. This particular piece features the strip farming contours of the Driftless area of Western Wisconsin. Materials include repurposed clothing, scraps from other quilters, and offers upholstery remnants. The papier-mâché frames contain recycled paper coated in acrylic medium. The main techniques are hand embroidery, reverse appliqué, hand dyeing, and machine stitching.
