A 'Daddy Long Legs', or Diptera. This surprisingly colourful chap had settled on the back window of my car when I was visiting the Lakes. I was just about to shoo it away when I was struck by the strong geometric shapes made by its legs and the reflection of its legs in the window, that were very sharply defined. The complexity of its body and joints are remarkable when viewed on a digital image and zoomed in.
I took several images from a variety of angles ... hence 'study no.1' ... as I have already completed study no.2, which will feature offers elsewhere in my ETSY shop in thevery near future.
The image measures 10 x 8 inches and, in the mount, is a total of 12 x 10 inches. It is supplied unframed so that you can choose a frame (and maybe a mount too) that will suit your own taste and decor rather than mine! !0 x 8 is a standard frame size, so you should be able to source a suitable off-the-peg frame should you wish to do so.
The drawing is done in Derwent watercolour pencils on Winsor and Newton's 250gm Bristol Board.
Please note that the colour of the background is the uncoloured white paper; I note that the first photograph makes it appear blue ... it isn't!
