Although this vintage velvet photo album has seen better days as in Victorian days, it still is such a lovely piece of nostalgia and charm. The turquoise velvet has faded and the celluloid flower are slowly lifting off and breaking but all this adds to it's richness in history and glory. I am one to love things that show their age for to me it lends character and texture to your decor. Inside the pages are about half filled with sweet old photographs from the time of the bellows cameras and sepia toned wet plate images. This was a time where one had to hold their head still and not blink for almost two minutes! It was a BIG DEAL having your portrait taken as compared to now with our throw away selfies. Hmmm, interesting reflections on the times.
