Vintage Unique Art Nouveau Gablonz Czech Lady Butterfly Necklace with Pearls, Blood Red & Black Glass Drops

VERY easy to make shorter, just open links at each end of beaded clusters and remove how many sections you want this way.

Please note that the backs do show the work that has gone into these hand-made items (soldering) and some have the old Czech 'hallmark' or sometimes offers a more pictorial stamp, lending it even more provenance. Please message me for photo if concerned.

This necklace is made from Czech glass - handmade from glass rods, hand-pressed into molds / dies. Northern Bohemia - Jablonec Nad Nisou - has always been a region known for its glass and jewelry and they are circa 1920 - 1930.

This amazing necklace comes from the Export Houses of Brditschka and Altmann who started making jewellery circa 1913's in the Gablonz. Mr Brditschka started with this jewellery in the 1913s and in 1938 became the biggest jewellery maker in Gablonz and surrounding areas. As he did not want to go to war, at the onset of the war he started to make war materials for the army like hand shells and control systems for torpedos.

Heindrich Brditschka opened his company in 1908 and started manufacturing reproduction contemporary jewellery as Art Nouveau, Edwardian and Victorian using simple metal (brass, white metal, glass, rhinestones, cabochons....) so ordinary people could buy his jewellery.

This necklace, and others I have listed, were made in just the one place in the world - Gablonz, Tanvald - and were named after Gablonz town, the creators of glass and jewellery since the 18th century.

These pieces are unique as some of them are repaired to their original style from old pieces or have just been cleaned up. Truly original and unique because nobody in these times can imitate jewellery from the old masters from Gablonz!
