Here's an antique German blown glass pitcher with panel optic sides. It has a fantastic cast metal (pewter or pot metal) lid with finial and handle.
This very tall Victorian era glass piece is hand painted with blue violets and leaves having gilt highlights. The highlights and gold rim are now mostly worn off. The applied handle was attached with a flower prunt.
With the pour lip it is clearly a pitcher, yet it is otherwise in the form of glass tankards or beer steins from Germany, lidded to keep out the bugs.
It would make a great conversation piece and a fine addition to a Victorian glass collection or an antique stein grouping.
Size: 15" high to top of finial; 12-3/8" high to top of glass; 5" diameter base.
Condition: Excellent. No chips, cracks or fleabites. The glass offers is clear. There is wear to the gilding both around the rim and as floral highlights. More photos on request.
