1930s Japanese Gouda Holland Style Pottery Jug / Vintage Art Pottery / Flower Pattern offers Pottery / Art Deco Art Nouveau Pottery

Beautiful and hard to find Japanese Gouda Holland style ceramic jug. Lovely round shaped jug with handle, and stylized flowers in rich glaze colors, both matte and gloss. Signed 'Made in Japan' on the bottom surface.

This beautiful ceramic piece will look fantastic on a table top, shelf, dresser or sideboard. The interior is fully glazed which makes it suitable for use as a container for live flowers.

Japan made quite a bit of Gouda style ceramics from the 1920s to the 1940s. The designs and colors used were different from original Gouda Holland region pottery but close enough to appeal to the market.

The last photos is a clipping from The Washington Times, dated 20 January 1919, and indicates one of the earliest dates for Japanese Gouda 'copies'.

Excellent vintage condition, no chips, cracks or crazing.
