Product code: Gettysburg offers Address Commemorative Bullet Ballpoint Pen

This Gettysburg Address Commemorative Bullet Ballpoint Pen honors those who served in the Civil War. It is sure to delight any fan of history. The top of this amazing pen features a piece of wood which was taken from the David Wills House where President Lincoln stayed while putting the finishing touches on the Gettysburg Address. The wood is preserved on a white oval and encased in crystal clear acrylic in an artistic montage of images of the Wills House, a Union battle flag segment of the Pennsylvania 30th Infantry 1st Reserves, and an image of the Gettysburg Address (which is somewhat readable with a 20x magnifier).

David Wills, was a prominent attorney and resident of Gettysburg. He helped tend the wounded and lobbied for compensation for farmers and field owners who suffered property losses after the Battle of Gettysburg. He solicited help in caring for the dead from Pennsylvania Governor Andrew Curtin, who designated Wills an agent of the state and delegated him the task of properly burying the dead. The idea for creating a permanent national cemetery at Gettysburg was offered during a meeting at the Wills House. Governor Curtin approved the idea and gave Wills the authority to manage the construction of what would become the Soldiers' National Cemetery. Wills invited President Abraham Lincoln to speak at the dedication of the cemetery and hosted Lincoln at his home in Nov. 1863.
Your pen includes a Certificate of Authenticity issued by USMC veteran Jason Rose, who created the casting with this historic wood.

The pen is made from an actual .308 rifle bullet that has been drilled out and installed in a customized shell casing housing a smooth twist mechanism. A titanium gold plated clip and cap add a touch of elegance to this dramatic pen. The shell casing has been polished, but left in unfinished brass. It has been coated with museum wax to retard tarnishing. I can be left to naturally patina with use, or shine like new from customary brass polishing methods.

A beautiful pen that does not write well would just be a paperweight. A unique writing feel usually is the most crucial criterion for the decision to purchase a writing instrument. With all the time and effort that went into making this pen, only the finest writing system would be acceptable. This pen is equipped with a an upgraded Monteverde low viscosity inkfill for the ultimate writing experience. To maintain the original “writing feel” of your pen when it was new, you will want to use a Monteverde refill. I stock these refills for your convenience in fine or medium points. Your pen will also accept standard "Cross" style refills available at any office supply – though they may not equal the writing quality of a Monteverde refill.

CUSTOMIZE IT

There are lots of options to customize this type of pen - names can be engraved into the clip or shell casing. I also offer a deluxe wood presentation case which can be laser engraved with an image of their unit offers, squadron, operation or other patch, maps, text or other images. Please contact me with your specific wishes.
