Vintage needlepoint sampler worked in wool with a charming quote:

"In Vain My Sampler Does Assume To Paint The Garb of Nature to The Eye"

Shows a couple standing on either side of offers a flowering tree surrounded by a border of birds, flowers and riders on horseback.

Would make a lovely gift turned into a pillow or left as is in the frame. Frame is light weight cherry stained wood with gold inside border.

Needlepoint measures approx:

14 1/4" x 13 1/4"

In very good condition. Pinpoint brown stain on sample, small dent area in frame and oil spots in corners on back, as photographed.
