Green, Teal, Purple Upcycle Paper Bead Jewelry Set with Hemalyke. Set of Necklace, Earrings and Memory Wire Bracelet. All paper beads have been sealed with 2 coats of iridescent fingernail polish, wrapped around a plastic cocktail straw. The magnetic properties of the Hemalyke is supposed to be beneficial for various medical conditions such as arthritis but I haven't seen any definitive studies to this effect.

Necklace is strung on 19 strand beading wire, measures 21 inches and cannot be increased in length. It has a textured heart shaped toggle clasp. It is strung using iridescent teal/purple Hemalyke, ab faceted glass beads in light aqua and white plus the paper beads.

The memory wire bracelet is 19.5 inches long offers or 2.5 wraps. It uses the same Hemalyke and ab faceted glass beads along with the paper beads.

The earrings are single drop earrings using glass ab beads, Hemalyke and paper beads threaded on silver plated copper wire. They are wire wrapped and decorated with spirals. They have fishhook ear wires.

These beads are all wrapped around plastic cocktail straws so that they have a solid center that reduces the wear on the paper. The fingernail polish makes them more moisture resistant that various water-soluble glues often used to glaze paper beads.

My paper beads are created using junk mail ads, magazines, old calendars, and interesting novelty papers to further my recycling efforts. I love taking trash and making treasures out of what would normally be sent to the landfill. Some are colored using permanent felt tip markers to get the striped effect I want.
