Kenneth Jay Lane was originally, a shoe designer for Christian Dior. He later became a costume jewelry designer in 1963 and was a darling of famous people such as actress Elizabeth Taylor, Audrey Hepburn, First Lady Jackie Kennedy Onassis and the Duchess of Windsor. He was known for his "Fabulous Fakes" referring to his rich looking costume jewelry pieces. He has won numerous awards for his designs including a special Coty Award for his jewelry design in 1966. Kenneth Jay Lane died in 2017 at the age of 85.
