Antique Glass Medicine Bottle Chionia offers from Od Peacock Sultan Company St Louis Missouri Drug Store Find

offers This is an unopened original antique Chionia medicine bottle from Od Peacock Sultan Co. out of St Louis, Missouri. It retains it's paper label, bakelite cap and original packaging. The bottle, label and cap are in outstanding condition. The box end caps are both detached, but are still present. There is some damage around the end cap edges to the paper label that wraps around the cylindrical cardboard box. Original medicinal contents are still present.

Label says, "A preparation of Fringe Tree (Chionanthus Virginiea) based on the Eclectic Principle of Medicine. Dose: ADULT - one to two teaspoons three or four times a day. In case of severe or persistent cramps of abdomen, a laxative should not be used; consult your physician, it may be a appendicitis. USES: Constipation and Biliousness, and Headaches when due to constipation. Chionia does not purge, yet it's action is helpful whenever hepatic indolence is suspected."

I love the peacock images on both the paper label and box label. Glass bottle is embossed around the top O.P.S. Co. St. Louis, U.S.A. This would make a really nice addition to any antique medicine collection.
