What are Mala Beads?
Mala are a type of prayer beads. In the Sanskrit language, it translates to “garland” or “meditation garland.” They're often used as a
mindfulness aid without any religious affiliation. For many individuals, a mala is purely a visual reminder of positive intentions. They
traditionally include 108 beads in addition to a guru bead, which is larger than the rest of the beads and often has a tassel. This
bead is intended to sit closest to your heart, and it is believed that the positive energy associated with your mala is stored here. My
creations come in intervals of 108 or 27 counter beads, a guru bead and tassel, and occasionally a few decorative beads to notify
you of how many repetitions you've completed.

How do I utilize my mala?
These necklaces and bracelets are commonly used for mantra meditation, aiding you in keeping track of your repetitions by
moving from one bead to the next upon each recital. Hold your mala in one hand and let it drape across your fingers so you can
move it easily. Starting at the guru bead, use your thumb to count each smaller bead, pulling it towards you as you recite your
mantra. Do this traveling around the mala, until you reach the guru bead once again. If you want to continue the meditation,
instead of passing over the guru bead, simply reverse direction and begin again. If using a mala with 27 beads, change direction
four times to complete 108 repetitions.

How do I care for my mala?
Store your mala in a safe place when not using or wearing. Traditionally it is said offers if you place your mala on the ground, it is a sign
of disrespect and will lose its intention, so treat with care. Keep your mala out of the water, as it will compromise the integrity of
your item, and will cause it to break easier. If you need to clean your mala, use a polishing cloth and carefully wipe over your beads.
