This strop is handmade from a vintage 1970 100% flax linen fire hose. It has a beautiful red, yellow, and black center stripe.

This type of heavy, high quality, densely woven linen is difficult to find and is coveted by straight razor enthusiasts. These types of strops will become more and more rare because unlined 100% flax linen fire hoses have not been manufactured for a very long time.

I rotate various leather strops but the one constant in my daily shaving routine is the use of a flax linen fire hose strop. In my opinion, the cloth materials attached to most production leather strops are radically inferior to this type of flax linen. The feedback, feel, and edge refinement of a flax linen strop is unrivaled.

A nickel plated O-ring is included for lashing.

Prior to being made into a strop, this piece of flax linen went through a meticulous, multiday cleaning (no harsh chemicals such as bleach were used so as to not damage the linen). Because this strop is handmade from a 51 year old fire hose some marks, scuffs, and stains are not possible to remove. These imperfections do not make the strop any less effective.
