Silver Sankofa Necklace - Sterling Sankofa Pendant - Adinkra - Sankofa - Symbolic Jewelry offers - Jewelry with Meaning
A dramatic sterling silver Sankofa pendant dangles from a classic sterling silver ball chain. The Sankofa serves as a reminder to go back to our roots in order to move forward, that which we've lost, forgotten or been stripped of can be reclaimed and used as a guidepost to build a brighter future.
Adinkra symbols of Ghana, West Africa, represent concepts of the Asante people that for the most part are universal human values. The Asante have a rich tradition of proverbs, and the Adinkra symbols are used to remind one of these stories. The sankofa says to "go back and get it." Don't live in the past, but learn from it. Bring that knowledge into the present and use it to build a better future.
- The sankofa is 1 1/4 inch (3 cm) long, and with bail hangs 1 1/2 inches (3.5 cm) from the chain.
- The silver (925) ball chain is a sturdy 1.8 mm thick and either 16 or 18 inches (40 or 45 cm) long. (If you want a longer necklace, simply send me a message. I can send a list of sizes for you to choose from.)
- The lobster claw style clasp is 1/2 inch (1 cm) long.
