The Hairy Dipper is one of a range of dipping pen nib holders available in my shop designed specifically for the lover of calligraphy. The nib holder featured in this listing is crafted from the very beautiful Hairy Oak from which its name is derived. Hairy Oak is tree native to Australia which is valued for its unique colour action which is very striking in this stave. I have turned a very pleasing finial detail to give it a classic look.
The nib holder features a steel rose which firmly holds a standard size nib of your choice. The Hairy Dipper is approximately 150 mm (6 inches), long, has a very pleasing balance and is shaped to fit comfortably between your fingers.
I craft these pens on a wood lathe in my home workshop from only the finest materials. After forming the shape the pen is coated with a very tough polymer finish and polished to a very high gloss which both protects and highlights the beauty of the Hairy Oak stem.
Because of the natural variation in the wood stock, even within the same tree, each pen is slightly different in colour and figure but they are all beautiful and you can be reassured that no one will own a nib holder identical to yours.

PLEASE NOTE: the pen can be supplied with or without a nib as an option when purchasing. The nib offered is a Brause Cito Fein gold colored steel nib which has a 0.3mm very fine point, half elastic, with a precise writing style . Good for monoline lettering. I also offer nib holders as a set (see seperate listing) which includes a matching inkwell and a set of 6 Brause nibs. It's a great way to start a hobby or to make a special gift set!
