1992 Olympic Basketball DREAM TEAM !! These were the first NBA players allowed to compete in the Olympics. Playing in Barcelona, this star-studded team with hall-of-fame coaches won the gold medal.
Plaque includes a gold-toned metal rectangle with red and blue horizontal band with white block letters "U S A" and gold script saying "Go for the gold". Plastic sleeves contain basketball cards for the players--Michael Jordan, Ervin 'Magic' Johnson, Larry Bird, Patrick Ewing, David Robinson, John Stockton, Chris Mullin, Scotty Pippen, Charles Barkley, Karl Malone--and coaches Chuck Daly and Mike Krzyzewski.
Until 1989, NBA players were specifically prevented from Olympic Game participation so 1992 was the first. Dubbed the "Dream Team" offers by Sport Illustrated on the magazine cover in 1991, the name stuck. This team as a whole was inducted into basketball's Hall of Fame as "the greatest collection of basketball talent on the planet."
