"Elroy's Pumpkin"

Elroy the happy ghost was one of the most popular characters from the Spookhaven greeting cards. Although many mistakenly apply the name Elroy to any happy ghost on greeting cards from the era, the true Elroy was a specific character with a childlike glee and enthusiasm for traditional Halloween activities that suggested he was discovering each one for the first time, regardless of how many times he was depicted trick-or-treating, carving jack o'lanterns, sprite-shaking, etc.

This piece is rendered in white charcoal and colored pencil, on a 5.75"x8.5" sheet of acid-free gray-toned paper. It is protected by several coats of archival fixative.
