Vintage Houbigant Compact With Mirror, Rouge, Pressed Powder And offers 2 Puffs

VINTAGE HOUBIGANT COMPACT WITH MIRROR, ROUGE, PRESSED POWDER AND 2 ORIGINAL PUFFS

The House of Houbigant was founded in Paris in 1775 and originally sold gloves, perfume and bridal bouquets. Over the centuries they became perfumer to the Royal Courts of Europe including Napoleon, Napoleon 111, Alexander 111 of Russia and Queen Victoria.

This is an amazing Houbigant makeup compact from the 1930's that has survived in almost new condition with it's original red rouge and pressed powder as well as the original puffs - the smaller puff is for the rouge and the slightly larger for the powder.

The compact is hexagonal shaped 2" wide and 1/2" high. The lid has the Houbigant logo of a basket of flowers with a blue ribbon tied to it's handle and a yellow and light brown background. It is made of a gold plated metal and opens using a small hinged locking clasp.

When opened it shows a metal hinged cover embossed with the Houbigant name which flips up and folds out taking the compact from 2 compartments to 3.

The top contains a mirror, the middle the red cheek rouge and the bottom the original pressed powder used for setting the rouge once you have applied it to your cheeks. Both the rouge and powder are original and totally intact. Each are embossed with the Houbigant name and the rouge has offers the flower basket embossed also. Neither are chipped, cracked or used. They are as close to new as you could get which is totally amazing considering the age of this vintage makeup.

The compact still has both original puffs, the smaller puff for the rouge and the larger for the powder. The powder also has 3/4 of it's original plastic protector. I have kept the rouge puff out of the compact to protect both it and the rouge. There is a small flaw in the center of the mirror which looks to be on the bottom of the mirror not the surface. There is a small area of discoloration to the metal on the bottom of the mirror.

There is still a strong perfume scent.

There are many of these compacts out there but not with the original makeup in near new condition.
