This knife is made to replicate a hunting knife given to me by my grandfather. He purchased the original around the turn of the 20th century. offers When I researched the blade I was told that it was "probably a 19th century Mariners' Knife". I can not find any other references to the blade style so I've called it a hunter/skinning knife. I know the original is over 100 years old and this blade is made to the same size specifications. The blade of this knife is from a recycled power hacksaw blade with a German Silver guard and a walnut hilt. (The original knife has a stacked leather hilt with copper spacers and a Pot Metal guard and Pommel.) The scabbard is 6 ounce saddle leather hand cut and laced. The blade is 4 5/8" long and 1 1/16" at the guard. The replica has a Pewter Grizzly Bear mounted on the butt.
