These step stools are made from durable and economical Pine offers. Now, pine has a bad reputation, but it shouldn't! Pine developed a bad rap when flimsy, replaceable, mass produced furniture became the standard in american homes. But the problem was with the manufacturing, not the material! Pine is actually one of the most dense woods from the evergreen tree family and is as strong and durable as many hardwoods used in high-quality furniture. In selecting the Pine I use in these step stools, I choose only the strongest boards with the fewest knots. I then work around these knots as much as possible during the building process. Any knots included in the final product are first stabilized with a high strength adhesive and then filled to provide you with the most uniform product possible.
