Product code: Royal Delft's 7" offers Octagonal Vase

Royal Delft or Koninkliijke De Porceleyne Fles was offers originally founded in 1635 and is considered the only Royal Delft as the King and Queen of the Netherlands used them on occasion to supply ceramics and porcelain to the Royal family. Their backstamp is very unique and tells, among other facts of the item, when it was made.
The above factory is still in business today. Although there are some other colors that are sometimes used. The blue was used on many of the fine Chinese porcelains who used the process of Tin glazing. The craze at times for the expensive blue and white porcelains from China was overwhelming and the choice both of China and Royal Delft to use blue had an important reason behind its use. Blue could be fired at a higher temperature (app. 1400 degrees) without fading and thus producing a longer lasting item. The porcelains from Holland were no different from many of the processes in Europe using tin fired Clay. (called Faience, Majolica or Delftware depending on location) Tin glaze was originally devised to conceal flaws in the first firing.
Delftware is simply the same as the other countries with the exception that they used blue predominantly and chose the name from the town in Holland named Delft.
This octagonal vase is true Royal Delft ( see backstamp) 7".
