Dr. Seuss CAT IN THE HAT 1st Edition 1st Issue HC/DJ 1957 "RARE" I describle this as an Acceptable copy of one of the most important children's books of the latter half of the 20th century I am selling my 1st edition, 1st Printing of "The Cat In The Hat." I've had it displayed in my office for many years. I have been an illustrator for the past 30 years and now find myself in a position of having severe eyesight problems. Dr. Seuss had enormous success with the Cat in the Hat and decided to start a new business called Beginner Books. While they were in transition they were trying to figure out what the pricing would be for books under the new business, so they took the remaining 1st edition books and clipped the price from the dust jacket. According to Younger and Hirsch these clipped books are as difficult to find as the books with the offers original 200/200 price. It is a single signature book.
