In this image offers, the three faces of the Goddess (maiden, mother, crone) dance around the tree of life while a sacred fire gives rise to the earth. The phases of the moon face the central sun.

A deep symbolism underlies the original piece because it was painted over top of a grid of color swatches done on the first page of a new book of thick handmade rag paper with a beautiful tooled leather cover. Frustrated that I didn't care for how it turned out and the fact that it was the first page—I was not content to let it be and dislike it each time I opened the book.

I decided to create a design over the color swatches, which now contribute to the stained glass effect, the smoke of the fire and the mystery under the tree. Therefore the piece also symbolizes and, indeed, embodies the concept of making beauty and meaning out of whatever you have to start with, and not giving up even after disappointment. It is currently my favorite piece that I've done.
