This is an antique color centerfold print (chromolithograph) from PUCK, a weekly magazine published in 1884. Puck was the first successful humor magazine in the United States consisting of political satire expressed in colorful cartoons and caricatures which focused on the the major, mostly political, issues of the day. It was published from 1871 until 1918. Puck was quite popular in its day, and very popular among political cartoon collectors today. This series of PUCK cartoons are clever, beautifully illustrated and provide an historical picture of the state of politics in 1884. CONDITION: EXCELLENT — Clear, clean, very colorful and bright; no foxing, creasing, tears or folds (other than the centerfold), and very good margins -- perfect for framing. A really beautiful image. There are NO HOLES IN THE CENTERFOLD, offers which is quite rare for these prints, given they were almost always collected and sewn together into large books. Just two tiny white marks.

This color lithograph is about 135 years old and guaranteed to be original. It is an authentic old print from the aforementioned newspaper and NOT A MODERN REPRODUCTION.

The print, including the white border (if any) is about 13" x 21". THIS PRINT IS NOT MATTED.
