Covellite is a rare copper sulfide mineral that creates an indigo blue mineral that commonly pairs with pyrite.
This Covellite is quite rare and from the mines of Montana. The deeper the blues, the bigger the pyrite veins, and the brighter the purple sheen is the better the quality.
The scarcity of Covellite and the closure of the mine since the 1930's have resulted in a current pricing of specimens starting at around $250.00 per pound or $0.55 per gram, which is equivalent to the pricing on many meteorites.
