The beautiful quart-size aqua-blue Ball Ideal glass lightning jar is in very good to great condition. One of the features that helps to make older jars more desirable and interesting is the amount of information found on the jar. This particular Ball Ideal glass lightning jar has quite a few details not only for identification but also for dating. Near the top of the jar, one side of the neck has "WIRE SIDE" with a "10" and "2" on the other. The embossed letters on the front spell out, "Ball IDEAL" with a lower-embossed "PAT'D JULY 14, 1908.". The particular style of the embossed " Ball" on this jar is sometimes referred to as an undropped "a". According to references, this particular "Ball" design with an undropped "a" and without the underline was only produced between 1923-1933. Also, when compared to other similar jars, the embossed "Pat'd July 14, 1908." is lower on the jar. Hence, the limited time of production between 1923-1933 along with the lower embossed "Pat'd July 14, 1908." near the bottom make this jar even more collectible. In addition to its rarity, this particular aqua-blue Ball Ideal jar is very attractive to the eye. The aqua-blue colored lightning jar has some small bubbles along with other interesting imperfections in the glass. Also, the number "3" with an underline mark on the bottom is near the center of a circular area made up of tiny waves surrounded by a pontil-like scar. Other imperfections in the glass are noticeable near the top of the jar in the area of the neck. In addition to its attractive aqua-blue glass, the galvanized metal bale closure has a wonderfully aged rustic-gray patina developing on its surface. Along with this, it is important to note that since it has actual mounting holes holding it in place, the metal bale will not only last longer but the area around the neck is much less likely to be scratched. Unlike metal bale closures held in place with twisted metal wire that often moves and scratches the surface of the glass, the stationary mounts on both sides of the neck of this particular Ball Ideal jar hold the metal bale closure in one place.

Please note that screen resolution and/or original lighting could cause the colors to appear lighter or darker than actual. Also, the rubber seal is not included with the jar. In addition, the aqua-blue color of this particular glass jar is much closer to blue than green.

There is one very tiny surface chip on the outer edge of the rim - its so small that its virtually impossible to detect with the eye without slowly moving it against a light source. Other than this, there are no breaks, cracks, chips, or repair marks on this gorgeous aqua-blue Ball Ideal glass lightning jar. There are some slight vintage wear, age, and rub marks on the jar - mainly in the form of slight rub marks on the sides and base where it has come in contact with other surfaces. While both the inside and outside of the jar have been cleaned, there could still be some small faint cloudy spots that were overlooked - mainly around the inside of the heel area where the sides meet the floor of the jar. Also, as previously mentioned, the metal bale closure has a rustic-gray patina developing on its surface.

The decorative possibilities for this gorgeous aqua-blue Ball Ideal glass lightning jar are many. ***Our Measurements for clothing are taken with the garment laying flat with closures fastened - zippers are zipped and buttons buttoned.
