Hand carved sunken relief of a three white tailed deer.

I carved this item out of responsibly sourced soft wood timber using hand held tools only. I NEVER use any electric or motor powered carving tools on my pieces.

To create this piece I first did up an original sketch, then using carbon paper I transferred the design onto the wood surface. Once the carving is completed to my standards, I then hand painted each deer using different colored stains with the white and green being acrylic paint. I then finished the piece with a high gloss weather proof varnish. Every piece gets a triple coat of varnish.

I usually display my pieces using two eye hooks and threading. This piece does not currently have eye hooks, but I can add them before shipping if you would like. If you do not choose to add eye hooks the piece will ship without them.
This is a sunken relief meaning that offers the piece is created by going into the surface, while still leaving the surface level even. I hope that you enjoy this piece not just with your eyes. The beauty of a relief carving is being able to touch and feel the image.
