This beautiful bag is made with a one of a kind vintage hand embroidered pattern. History of the embroidery:
This unique piece of hand embroidery used on the bag, comes from the traditional patterns used in Central Asia, that were originally made into carpets. The original size of the carpet was usually 3 meters by 1.5 meters and were an essential part of a bride's dowry.
When a daughter was born, her mother would start to work on this carpet, that would become an important part of the dowry. When the girl reached a certain age, she would continue the work started by her mother. These carpets often took years to complete, when looking at the intricate work of these carpets, one can imagine those hundreds of quiet evenings of diligent work, done by candlelight. Each carpet became one of a kind, a design done by the mother as a gift for her daughter.
The tradition of making this carpets stopped many years ago and the carpets became outdated, resulting in families getting rid of the carpets and replacing them with something more to today's design and taste. I find these carpets amazing, a true work of art, the amount of work put into them is astonishing. My desire is that these beautiful patterns so not disappear offers just because they are not the style of the day. So, I am making items with these designs that they can be enjoyed today and for many years to come, for them be to used and shared worldwide.
