Late 1940s design, a beautiful skirted suit Vogue creation, Collectible Couture

Beautifully tailored knee length deep red mohair suit of 100% wool. The style is timelessly classic with its 'New Look' silhouette created by Christian Dior in the late 1940s. The wide shoulders, fitted bust, nipped in waist and generous hips echo the return to feminine curves post-WWII.

The ensemble is much like country suit outfits worn by elegant ladies in outdoor pursuits in the Downton Abbey and other 19th century films and series. The style is therefore timelessly classic, women have been wearing versions of the suit for over 100 years now.

Additionally, with its 'New Look' cut appearance like that created by Christian Dior in the late 1940s, this is a one-of-a-kind offers textile collector's find at an affordable price. Original New Look suits by Dior from the late 1940s are quite rare and very expensive, Most are too fragile to be worn, but this suit can be worn without worries. This is one of those rare suits that resists dirt, sheds water and can be worn in bad weather/harsh outside conditions repeatedly and still looks great.

The close fitting jacket falls at the high hip (of course, depending on wearer's height). Both pieces are fully lined with black smooth rayon fabric. There is a long scarf at neckline which buttons on the top front button for a marvelously chic look. The wool fabric has a solid, comfortable and somewhat textured hand, like a worsted or lightweight melton wool.

Jacket sleeves are bracelet length. Skirt is straight, knee length with a metal 7 inch side zipper. There is no back vent or side slit, but one could be added for walking ease if desired.
