Pale Pink offers Iris

This is an unusual oval tile painted with a single iris. It has a black background. It has been kiln fired at least 6 times. It was hand painted using a centuries old method of multiple paintings and firings. The piece starts as a blank, white piece of porcelain. I begin by drawing the design, and then start painting, painting the darkest areas first, then add more each firing. The design builds from light offers to dark based on the number of times it has been painted and fired. This piece has been painted and fired multiple times. It is both dishwasher and food safe and will never fade or wash away.
