This elaborate, genuine papyrus made in Egypt depicts a beautiful rendition of "The Last Judgment;" which shows Anubis weighing the heart of a recently deceased. In ancient times scales were often viewed as the means of weighing mans heart. In this judgment scene, as seen in many temples of Egypt, we see that when a person died he was brought before the judge. His heart was put on a scale to weigh his deeds. If his heart was found lacking he would be devoured. If his heart was found to be good he would be taken into the after-life. This papyrus was made in Egypt by extracting stems of the fibrous papyrus plant native to the country, pressing liquid from them, and weaving the stems to create a durable sheet. Then painted on with ink and gold leaf, creating this beautiful scene straight from history. Great condition. No stains or rips. Measures 16" W x 12" T.
