This wool is well sorted - no tummy, rump or leg wool and next to no hay or vegetable matter - comes from a pure Gestrike ewe who lives on a farm near lake Mälaren, Sweden.
Colour: Black (with some suntanned brownish tips)
Fibre length: offers guard hairs up to 18 cm, under wool 7-9 cm (sheared in September 2022, after about 5 months growth)
This wool is quite soft. There is a lot of volume. The staples are wavy and full and consist mainly of the softer under wool (much less cover hairs). Very clean fleece!
The staples can easily be separated. Suitable for felting or spinning.

Gestrike is a heritage breed of sheep in Sweden, and it is included in a conservation program.
Gestrike wool can have many different colours, and often have patches of them on the same individual. The wool has both under wool and longer guard hairs. It is renowned for good spinning characteristics, but also felts well.
