Nito vines are the most beautiful of all the various indigenous weaving materials used for basket and tableware production due to its natural red/brown colour and almost black stem color. Furthermore, Nito is washable and is also very tough and durable, unlike most of the other reeds and grasses used for weaving of home products. For these reasons, nito woven products are treasured and sought after even if they are second hand or aged.

The Nito vine (Lygodium Circinatum) is the most difficult raw material to find and harvest, but it does grow in abundance in the jungle areas at the foot of mountains to medium altitudes where the soil is moist and perfect for the Nito to grow and weave itself around trees rocks and bushes. The Nito vines replenish themselves very quickly and there is never offers a shortage of vines due to their extremely fast growth rate. The vines are gathered and dried in sunlight before stripping with a sharp knife to expose the inner stem which is around 5mm in diameter. This inner stem is the part we use for weaving the beautiful Nito vines into baskets, tableware and accessories.
